Collaboration over Competition

TRUE or FALSE?
If you are in business, it seems that you are automatically deemed to in competition with every other business in the same industry as you…….right? Wrong!

In this day and age of a cut throat business world – it is so refreshing to be part of a group of fitness business owners that share the same vision and support one another through the ups and downs of the business world.

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much” is so true. With Body Beyond Baby affiliates all over Australia and in NZ together we can reach so many mums and help them to make a safe and supportive return to exercise. Our team works together by sharing knowledge and supporting each other both technically and with the business and mindset ups and downs that come with running a small business.

One of the most important aspects of my business is working in collaboration with local Women’s health physios to ensure that mums that come along to training are well looked after from the inside out. Women’s health physios play a really important role in helping women understand their post-baby pelvic floor – it may not be the same as it used to be!

This topic isn’t openly spoken about and it is common for women to think it's normal to pee their pants when exercising postnatally. This doesn’t have to be the case! A Women’s health physio can help you to understand more about how to effectively rehab your pelvic floor or help you to manage other post-natal issues such as prolapse.

Miss Motivator recently held a workshop in collaboration with Alexandra McQueen from Port Macquarie Women’s Health Physiotherapy to help mums returning to exercise better understand the function of the pelvic floor, the common dysfunctions post-birth, common myths and how to get help. At this workshop, we encouraged everyone to open the conversation with other women and spread the word that you don’t need to pee when you sneeze – help is available!

I also work in collaboration with Cathy Lawrence and the team at Port Macquarie Physio and Pilates to ensure fitness programming is personalised for each mum.

Our physio partners help me to ensure you are exercising safely by providing me with a thorough understanding of your starting point and guidelines if necessary. Together we can help you gain back your strength under professional guidance – you can be sure you are well looked after.
